A wound is a disruption of tissue integrity due to any external cause. Wounds are of 2 types: acute and chronic.
Acute wounds are wounds caused by some causes such as abrasions, burns and cuts and usually heal within 3-4 weeks. Chronic wounds, on the other hand, are long-term or permanent wounds caused by conditions such as bed dependency, vascular insufficiency, diabetes and do not heal for 6-8 weeks.
It is very important to care for wounds on the body after surgery or due to injuries and various diseases with dressings at regular intervals.
Dressing and wound care should be carried out by a professional wound care team. Otherwise, it should not be forgotten that unconscious practices in this regard may harm the area where the wound is located and general health.
In home wound care service; the number and frequency of dressings to be made according to the condition of the wound is determined by the expert wound care team.
The aim of home wound care is to determine the type and treatment of the wound, to find the causes that prevent the wound from healing, to eliminate these causes as much as possible and to provide a suitable environment for the wound to heal. Another task of the wound care team providing home health care is to prevent new wounds by educating the relatives and caregivers of these patients, who are mostly bedridden.
